Cherry plum group of apricots
Segmentation:
Apricot from the cherry plum group According to the classification of Professor Lschnig, "Die Marille" 1954
origin:
It is a strain of unknown origin. It was first described by Rolin et Blanet in France in 1755, and later by Sickler in 1802, Dittrich 1840, Poiteau 1846, Levoy 1877, and Lanche 1883. The apricots in this group, also called plum apricots, are common apricots (accord Prunns armeniaca L.) and cherry plums (Prunns cevasifera). The intermediate traits between the two fruits can be clearly seen from the variety characteristics. According to Kostina (1936), this species is said to be rare in Europe; it is common in Ukraine, the lower Volga region, and the Seven Rivers region. (Original: Professor "Apricot". Lschnig 1954). The owner of this variety took it from Hillier Nursery (Winchester, Southern England) in 1966 as (incorrectly) Prunns mume = (Japanese apricot). It should be a subtype. |
