0:09and vegetable specialist, and today we're going to talk about selecting a site for planting
0:14your blueberries.
0:15Now, when we look for a site for blueberries one of the first things you want to do is
0:19select a site that's open and not shaded. Although blueberries will tolerate shade,
0:23if you're after these plants for production, in other words lots of berries, then they
0:27should get full sunlight. If you're primarily interested in having them in the landscape
0:31and feeding the birds then sure, go ahead and put them in a partially shaded area, but
0:35just understand you're going to lose a little bit of fruit when you go down that lane.
0:39Now, the other thing you want is a little bit of protection. Blueberries are not adequately
0:43hardy for all parts of Maine. So if you can have a hedge or something running along the
0:48west and north sides to prevent those cold winds from coming and hurting those delicate
0:52buds in the wintertime, that will help quite a bit.
0:55One of the things you don't want to use for a hedge though is balsam fir. Balsam fir exchanges
1:00some disease problems, specifically witches' broom, with blueberries so that's not a particularly
1:04good plant to have around your blueberries. But some other kind of evergreen hedge will
1:08help them get through the winter much better.
1:11The other thing you want to be near is a source of water. These plants need water not only
1:16for establishment but through the fruiting season, especially for facing a very dry summer,
1:20you want to be able to get water to those plants. Get some place where you can either
1:23run a hose to them, some trickle irrigation or a soaker hose to keep those roots well
1:28rooted during the summertime.
1:30Now in terms of soil types, blueberries like a well-drained soil and this is a mistake
1:35gardeners often make. They think, "Blueberries grow in the swamp so I'm going to plant them
1:38in a wet, soggy part of my lawn." That's not really the case. Blueberries will tolerate
1:43wet during the late fall, winter and spring, in other words, when they're dormant. But
1:47during the growing season if their roots are in water, the plants will drown and you'll
1:51lose them. So pick a well-drained soil. In other words, don't look for a spot where the
1:55water stands in the spring. Stay away from there, go a little further uphill where the
1:59water drains away quite nicely.
2:03Blueberries don't like heavy soil so we want to stay away from areas that are loaded with
2:06clay. They prefer a sandy or sandy loam type soil, something that drains well and is nice
2:12and friable like we see here. Lots of big chunks in this soil will drain very well,
2:17the roots will be able to grow through there very well. This is the type of soil that we're
2:20looking for. If your soil has a lot of clay or is compacted, you need to work a lot of
2:25organic matter into that soil to loosen it up, to improve the drainages and help those

粗看了下 没什么实质的东西 简单概述一下
1.蓝莓种在开阔（全日照）的地方。若不求产量，只是种蓝莓，看蓝莓树的可以庇荫（蓝莓耐阴）
2.在蓝莓周围种树以防止冬天冷风冻伤嫩芽（他讲的是他那里的环境，我们这里并不适用）
3。需要水源，蓝莓生长，果季都需要水，尤其是干燥的夏天（中国有的地方雨水多，情况又不一样了）
4，【重点】土壤类型：蓝莓喜欢排水好的土。蓝莓在休眠期时能忍耐潮湿（深秋，冬，初春），但在生长季，若排水不好，会死！！！所以蓝莓可以种的高点。
蓝莓不喜欢粘土，喜欢沙壤土......... 最后不翻了 ，逛论坛的都懂
